One of the most mysterious places on earth is Deep Sea. Going down and exploring Oceans is one of the toughest things to do, in fact some believe it is tougher than exploring outer space. Our oceans have creatures you couldn’t imagine and wouldn’t believe that it exists. Let’s see some of the strangest animals in the ocean:
1. Goblin Shark
The Goblin Shark is a rare deep-sea shark known for its haunting looks, like you can see Goblin Shark image here. It has long and flat snout filled with electroreceptors to detect prey. Though less known, Goblin Shark habitat is deep-see waters (200–1,300 meters), mostly found in Japan, the Atlantic Ocean, and near Australia. A Goblin Shark is often called a “living fossil” because its lineage dates back around 125 million years. It’s alien-like appearance and unique hunting strategy make it one of the most fascinating and strangest deep-sea animals.

2. Dragonfish
The Dragon fish is known for its terrifying appearance and bioluminescence. It produces its own light to lure its prey in the pitch-black depths of the ocean. A Dragon fish has a transparent body which helps it in avoiding detection by predators. Dragon fish can emit and see red light, allowing them to spot prey that other animals can’t. Despite its fearsome looks, it is very small in size, around 6–16 inches (15–40 cm) and found at depths of 200 to 2,000 meters.

3. Sea Angel
The Sea angels are group of small swimming snails that angelic looks creatures from otherworld. These deep Sea angel are found in cold, deep waters, especially in the Arctic and Antarctic oceans. Sea Angel size is ranging from 1.5 to 3 inches (4 to 8 cm) long. They have transparent body and some of the species of the angel of the sea can glow, making them look even more magical in the deep sea. Despite their delicate and peaceful look, these sea angels are ruthless hunters mostly feeds on another type of sea slug called the sea butterfly.

4. Giant Squid
The giant squid is one of the most massive, mysterious and strangest creatures in the ocean. It’s very large and the biggest Giant Squid recorded is 43 feet long making it around half the size of Blue Whale. Even scientists do not know much about these biggest squid as most of the things that we know came from their carcasses. It has also inspired countless sea monster legends, including the Kraken from Norse mythology. These enormous squid lives at depths of 1,000 to 3,000 feet (300–900 meters) in oceans worldwide.

5. Vampire Squid
Vampire squid are one of the strangest sea creatures in the world. It’s scientific name Vampyroteuthis infernalis, meaning “vampire squid from hell.” Despite its scary name and looks, it’s actually a gentle, slow-moving creature that doesn’t suck blood! Also, it is neither a squid nor an octopus it is a completely separate animal. Vampire squids are found at depths of 2,000–3,000 feet (600–900 meters) in the oxygen-minimum zones, of tropical and temperate oceans where most predators cannot survive.
