Songkran: World's Biggest Water Festival in Thailand

Songkran is the most famous festival in Thailand. Recently it has been added to "Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity" by UNESCO.

It is World’s biggest water festival where whole country emerges itself in the celebration.

Songkran is Buddhist New Year. Which is celebrated for 3 days.

Festival begins with pouring water on Lord Buddha and taking blessings from monks and elderly people. 

And then the water fight begins.

The festival marks as a symbol of washing away of one’s sins and bad luck and welcoming New Year.
