Located near India Tibet border (Tibet under China occupancy), is the first Indian village. But this place has a lot more stories, culture and an incredible nature to explore and experience. I do not know what I am going to share here about Zemithang because it is more of an experience that you can only be felt, it cannot be expressed in words. First let me tell you about Zemithang and How to reach Zemithang.
Zemithang and How to reach Zemithang
Being in Zemithang itself feels like a paradise, it is surrounded by mountains, jungle, waterfalls and a strong river flow that could be listened from all the places in the village. Away from crowds when you will reach here, you will feel like you jump into a dream or some movie set. Even if you do not explore any place here just spending a day here will be one of the best memories of have.
You can reach here by Sumo or private taxi from Tawang. Only one or two sumo runs daily from Tawang to Zemithang the last Sumo is at 11AM. Sumo will cost around ₹300.

Where to Stay in Zemithang
I have stayed @River View Homestay in Zemithang it felt like a home in this unrealistic beautiful place. It is just next to the River Flow, you will be in the middle of tall mountains, lots of waterfalls is visible from here, Gompa, hanging bridges and India’s first café is very close to it (I will suggest you should go to this beautiful café run by wonderful team of Women). You can see the stay here. I will share the details –

Basti / Village
The first thing you should explore here is the Basti/ Village. Where you will find traditional houses made up of rock and soil. See their farm lands, cattle and if possible, see someone’s house from inside and talk to the locals. You will be amazed by how old these houses are, every house has old equipment, utensils and a small temple. Unlike most parts of Arunachal Pradesh and North-East India here you will find pure vegetarian people (not everyone) because Zemithang is home to Monpa Tribe that follows Buddhism.
