Best Things to do in Malvan

Malvan is a beautiful place located at the shores of Arabian Sea. It is home to many amazing places and things to do. It also houses some of the best beaches in India. For many people including me it is better than Goa. Today, we are going to see some of the best places to visit in Malvan

1. Sindhudurg Fort

Sindhudurg Fort also known as Malvan fort, because it is located in Malvan, Maharashtra. It is the largest sea fort in the world built by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in 1664-1667. Nestled on a rocky island in the Arabian Sea, you can see imprints of hands and feet of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. There’s also a unique temple dedicated to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj where his statute is in disguise like local community of this land because he stayed here in disguise. It also features massive ramparts, secret tunnels, and over 40 bastions, offering a glimpse into its strategic significance. See the list of sea forts in India

2. Rock Garden

Rock Garden Malvan should be in your list of best places to visit in Malvan. Located on the Chivla beach, you can see lots of rock structures, and serene sea view of Arabian sea. Try to go here in evening and definitely do attend light show. Light show will give you very energetic and patriotic vibe. Outside of the Rock Garden, there are many food stalls, where you can eat different tasty snacks, various drinks and foods. After wards you can spend a beautiful time at Chivla beach which is just next to it. Actually, the rocky part of Chivla Beach has been converted into the Rock Garden of Malvan

3. Rameshwar Temple

Rameshwar Temple Malvan is an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is believed to be 300 years old. It is located in Achara village which is nearly 20 Km from Malvan. It is one of the oldest temples in the region and holds great religious and historical significance. Here you can see traditional Konkani-style infrastructure with intricate wooden carvings and a serene courtyard. It is one of the best places to see in Malvan

4. Water Sports in Malvan

Malvan and nearby area are home to some of the best spots for water adventure sports in India. So, if you are going to Malvan do not miss the opportunity for various water activities in Malvan. There are many beaches including Tarkarli Beach, Devbagh Sangam, Chivla Beach, and Vengurla Rocks, all offer wide range of water activities. And the best part about it is, you can do all the water activities at a budget friendly price. Best is buying a Malvan water sports package in which all activities like scuba diving, parasailing, jet ski, bumper ride, banana ride and other activities are included. Many package also includes Dolphin sighting, other sightseeing places and taking you to a coral island. I did it one year back and full package costed me just ₹1,000. 

5. Malvan Market

Spend an evening strolling through Malvan market. You will get know a lot about Kokani culture. Do not miss Kokani food, Malvani masala, and sea food. Also, try solkadhi, ghavne (rice pancakes), modak, and local Malvani thalis from small eateries and stalls. It is good for both Vegetarian and Non-Vegetarian. See beautiful local wooden handicraft, conch-shell items, and coir crafts made by local artisans. Malvan is known for cashew nuts and mango products, try variety of mango products and buy some cashew. 

Malavan is home to other temples and forts as well. Best thing about Malvan is, it is budget friendly less crowded when compared to Goa and more beautiful.
