A Day of My Life Living in a Remote Mountain Village of Sikkim

I have lived in a remote mountain village of Pelling, Sikkim for more than a month. And today I am going to tell you about How a day of my life looked like, living in a remote mountain village of Sikkim. I was there in the month of March and April.

My day starts with the sound of rain, smell of wet soil and me enjoying my morning inside the clouds, a perfect peaceful morning. I am literally living above 7,00 ft. I quickly get fresh up and the first thing I had to do is go more up to the top of the mountain that I am living on to bring milk from the village. If you have been following me you must know this that how much I like milk. For bringing milk I need to do a small yet challenging hike daily. It is like a daily exercise for me now, I sometime wonder how easily these villagers go up and come down😲. Crossing through 100% organic farming of the villagers. Here they grow plants of broom🧹 and export it to various parts of the country and Nepal. This plant looks like corn plant. They also grow cardamom and is the largest producer of black cardamom in India. I have also seen lots of vegetables including peas, cauliflower, and mustard.

After 10-15 minutes hike I reached at my destination. The first thing I do here is go inside the mud house of the Aunty and drink a warm glass of water. It is very amazing and relaxing feeling to be in a mud house after a steep hike. They also have a mud stove, basically this is their kitchen. I rested for a while and talked to Uncle, Aunty and their sons. I also asked them to say something on camera😁. Uncle was thinking what to say then Aunty jumped in said “This is Upper Lungzik…”. She also scolded me for coming late and not coming yesterday. I removed that part from the video😉 but I am telling you here. Here, every house has lots of flowers planted they use it to decorate their house and making an attractive garden. Uncle showed me his farm and told me about varieties of crops that grows here. Returning is comparatively easier as I have to descend down but still, I need to be careful.

After drinking milk and having breakfast I got ready for my volunteer work in the school. School is just below my stay. I am volunteering as a teacher in Grace Academy. Daily my first period is of class UKG all these kids are super cute😍. After that I took other classes. I danced with them, taught them new games and played with them. They are always excited, lovely, and so friendly. I am definitely going to miss these kids after leaving this place. They are one of the best reasons that kept me here.

Today we are completely surrounded by clouds actually we are inside clouds. View from here is just unmatchable to any part of the world. It is like living in a completely different world.

In evening, I went to eat Pani Puri😋 on the mountains. There’s a famous waterfall nearby Changey Falls. I often go there, walking through the jungle. Being here is a blessing for me. This is my life in Sikkim.
