How to Reach Dharamshala by Train, Bus and Flight

Dharamshala also written as Dharamsala is a beautiful city and home to Dalai Lama and many Tibetans particularly upper part of Dharamshala that includes McLeodganj, Dharamkot and Bhagsu. It also has the largest Tibetan monastery outside Tibet. It is also home to ancient and beautiful temples. You can also go on various adventurous treks of different levels. How to Reach Dharamshala by Train

The nearest railway station to Dharamshala is Kangra Mandir however it’s not a major railway station and you won’t be able to travel here directly from any place outside Himachal Pradesh. So, the closest major railway station near to Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh is Pathankot railway station and Pathankot Cantt railway station there are many trains available till here. Now from Pathankot to Dharamshala there are many buses, local taxi and cab that you could board. This is the most budget friendly option that you could opt for. From New Delhi to Pathankot minimum price for train ticket is from ₹ 155 and from Pathankot to Dharamsala city bus ticket price is around ₹ 200.

Bus is probably the best and most efficient way to reach Dharamshala Himachal Pradesh. Buses are widely available in Himachal Pradesh and Dharamsala bus stand is very well connected to various places. You can board an overnight bus from Delhi which will cost around ₹ 500. Many sleeper bus is also available till Dharamshala city. You can come here from different places like Chandigarh, Amritsar, Dehradun etc. using bus services. 

How to Reach Dharamshala by Flight

Nearest airport to Dharamshala is Kangra airport which is around 15 Km away from Dharamsala Himachal. Kangra airport is also known as Gaggle airport. However, this closest airport to Dharamshala, Kangra airport is not an international airport so, if you are coming from outside then you may have to land in New Delhi and then board a flight to Kangra from here there are many options available to reach Dharamshala Himachal. It will cost around ₹ 4,500 from Delhi.
