1. Mata Vaishno Devi
Situated on Trikut Parvat in Katra, Jammu and Kashmir, Vaishno Devi Mandir is considered as one of the holiest pilgrimages for Hindus. Katra to Vaishno Devi Mandir is around 12 Km trek that you could do on foot, pony ride or palki, now you can also book Vaishno devi helicopter and reach there in just 8 to 10 minutes. Inside the holy cave you will not find any sculpture of Mata, here Maa Vaishnodevi is in the form of three rock formations which are known as Pinds. It is also considered as one the most important Shaktipeeths where skull of Maa Sati fell.

Sitting at the top of Shankaracharya Hill in Srinagar, Shankaracharya temple is associated with Adi Shankaracharya, who have meditated here, while spreading the philosophy of Advaita Vedanta. The temple dates back to 200 BCE, and holds immense spiritual and historical significance. It is situated at a very serene location offers panoramic views of Dal Lake and the beautiful valley below. It is accessible via a steep climb of around 250 stairs. It is one of the famous temples in Kashmir that is must go place for both devotees and tourists.
4. Sudh Mahadev Temple
Located 42 Kms from Patnitop in Jammu and Kashmir, Sudh Mahadev temple is an ancient shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva. This is where Maa Parvati used to pray Lord Shiva here after taking bath in spring which is now known as Gauri Kund. There are some other ancient places nearby that you should visit like Mantalai temple, at this place Lord Shiva and Maa Parvati got married. Krimchi temple and Baba Jittoo temple are also ancient temple which are around 20 Kms from Sudh Mahadev temple that you should visit. And yes, do not forget to take a holy bath in Paap Nashni Bawli.
5. Kheer Bhawani Temple
Kheer Bhawani Temple is also known as Ragnya Devi temple. It is dedicated to Goddess Ragnya Devi, who is an incarnation of Goddess Durga. Revered by Kashmiri Pandits, it derives its name from the offering of kheer (sweet rice pudding) by devotees. There is a sacred spring in temple premises, whose water is believed to change colour, symbolizing the goddess’s moods. The temple’s serene environment and spiritual significance make it a prominent pilgrimage site in Jammu and Kashmir.
6. Raghunath Temple
Dedicated to Lord Ram, Raghunath temple is one of North India’s largest temple complexes and a prominent spiritual destination. It is built by Maharaja Gulab Singh and completed by his son, Maharaja Ranbir Singh, in the mid-19th century. The temple is renowned for its gold-plated interiors, intricate carvings, and a vast collection of ancient scriptures which holds a historical significance.
Jammu and Kashmir has many other ancient and spiritual temples and that’s why it is known as the “Land of Temples.” All these temples in Kashmir are very situated at a very serene and tranquil location. These ancient and historical temples hold a very spiritual significance for devotees. They are also a proof of India’s rich culture and traditions. You should definitely visit these temples at least once.
